The Oyo State Police Command in Nigeria has rescued 19 young Ghanaians from a human trafficking operation in the Kajorepo area of Akinyele, Ibadan.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, July 6, 2025, by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, the victims 14 men and five women were lured into the country with false promises of employment and later exploited by unidentified traffickers for financial gain.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with support from tactical teams, executed a search warrant at a building suspected to be linked to suspicious activities. The structure had been securely locked from the outside, raising further suspicion.

The police operation uncovered the 19 victims, all of whom were Ghanaians, trapped within the premises. Osifeso noted that the victims have since provided valuable information that is assisting with ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending the perpetrators behind the trafficking network.
