The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced that it will reduce the number of traffic lanes on the Madina–Accra and Accra–Madina routes at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange starting Sunday, June 22, 2025.

This temporary change is part of the ongoing 19.5-kilometre Accra–Tema Motorway and Extensions Project and will last for four months.

In a statement released on Thursday, June 19, the GHA explained that the lane reduction from four to three lanes in each direction is to allow for the construction of a central pier as part of the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge.

“The lane reduction is necessary to provide safe working space for construction personnel and to ensure the continued safety of all road users,” the statement said.

The Authority urged motorists to drive cautiously, pay attention to road signs, and follow directions from traffic management personnel during the period of construction.
