Mary Awelana Addah, Executive Director of Transparency International Ghana, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action regarding the controversial cash gift made by Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, to evangelist and former fetish priestess Nana Agradaa.

Her demand follows public outrage after a viral video showed Gyamfi handing over dollar bills to Agradaa during a public event. Though Gyamfi has since apologised and described the gesture as a private act of kindness, Addah insists the situation exposes the need for tighter ethical controls.

Speaking on Channel One’s Newsroom, she urged the President to show leadership by enforcing a stricter Code of Conduct and fast-tracking the passage of the Conduct of Public Officers Bill to criminalise such indiscretions.

She also encouraged Mahama to issue a firm directive requiring asset declarations from all public officials, emphasizing that symbolic gestures must give way to concrete accountability.
