Ibrahim Adjei, a former Assistant Secretary under President Akufo-Addo’s administration, has called for a thorough investigation into the origin of funds handed by Sammy Gyamfi to evangelist Nana Agradaa.

The call follows viral footage showing Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, giving an undisclosed sum, reportedly in U.S. dollars, to the former fetish priestess, sparking widespread outrage and concerns over public sector ethics.

Speaking on Channel One TV, Adjei questioned how Gyamfi acquired the money, especially in light of his public salary and past remarks on money laundering. “If someone is caught with money they can’t account for, it’s money laundering,” he noted, referencing Gyamfi’s own prior statements.

Adjei stressed that Gyamfi must disclose the source of the cash and explain his motivations before any formal probe begins. He argued that transparency is essential, especially after the launch of President Mahama’s new Code of Conduct for Public Officials.

Despite Gyamfi’s apology describing the gift as a private act of kindness, pressure continues to mount for clarity and accountability.
