Kwabena Adu-Boahen, former head of Ghana’s Signals Bureau, and his wife have filed a defamation suit against Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of making damaging and false statements during a public press briefing on March 24, 2025.
In the lawsuit filed on Thursday, April 24, the couple seeks exemplary and punitive damages, alleging that Dr. Ayine’s remarks—broadcast widely—were defamatory and baseless, severely tarnishing their personal and professional reputations.
The couple’s statement of claim requests:
1. Significant monetary compensation for reputational damage,
2. A perpetual injunction preventing the Attorney General from repeating the defamatory comments, and
3. Legal costs, including attorneys’ fees.
Describing Dr. Ayine’s statements as “highly offensive,” the plaintiffs assert that the accusations have caused them irreparable harm.
As per court procedures, Dr. Ayine has eight days from being served to respond. Failure to do so could result in a default judgment being entered against him.
