Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has called on Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Tamale North MP Alhassan Suhuyini to issue unconditional apologies to doctors at Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) as a step toward resolving the ongoing strike.

The strike, which has disrupted emergency and outpatient services, was triggered by a tense altercation between the Health Minister and Dr. Valentine Akwulpwa during an unannounced visit to the hospital on April 22. Doctors have since suspended services indefinitely, demanding formal apologies and improved working conditions.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Akwasi Acquah emphasized the need for reconciliation. “If the doctors are calling for an apology, it sits in its right place. They should just do the honourable thing, and that is it so we can move on,” he said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Akandoh has urged the doctors to return to work and promised reforms following the dismissal of TTH CEO Dr. Adam Atiku over alleged negligence related to a patient’s death.
