President John Dramani Mahama’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, @JDMahama, has been hacked and used to promote cryptocurrency content, according to a press release issued by Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA).

The breach reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 17, 2025. Unidentified hackers took control of the account and used it to promote a cryptocurrency project called “Solana Africa”. This raised concerns among Ghanaians, as the president’s social media presence is a key communication channel for political and national discourse.

In a press release dated March 18, 2025, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) confirmed the breach and assured the public that they are actively investigating the situation. The CSA is collaborating with X and other relevant stakeholders to address the issue and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
