The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has dismissed claims that the government has imposed a freeze on public sector employment, assuring Ghanaians that recruitment into key sectors will continue as needed.
His remarks follow growing concerns over limited job openings in the public sector and speculation that the government might be restricting employment opportunities.
Speaking on Point of View with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Dr. Forson refuted the reports, describing them as unfounded and misleading.
“There is no freeze on employment,” he stated, adding that public sector job opportunities will remain available, depending on economic needs and sectoral priorities.
The finance minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation, especially for the youth, and promised improvements in employment conditions across various sectors.
While assuring Ghanaians that hiring will continue, Dr. Forson indicated that recruitment efforts will be strategically aligned with national development priorities.
The statement comes as a relief to many job seekers, particularly graduates and professionals looking for opportunities in the public sector.
The government has reiterated its dedication to economic growth, job creation, and workforce development, ensuring that key sectors remain well-staffed to drive national progress.
