Three Salaga SHS Students Convicted, Fined GHS 1,200 Each Over Violent Clash

The Salaga Magistrate Court has convicted three students of Salaga Senior High School for their involvement in a violent clash, sentencing them to a fine of GHS 1,200 each or six months imprisonment with hard labour if they fail to pay.

Presiding over the case, His Lordship Edward Essel ruled that the accused—Nuru Ibrahim (Ibi), Hardi Hamza (Mad Lion), and Abubakari Zaidu (Macharjia)—were guilty of:

  • Possession of a firearm without authorization
  • Threats of death
  • Causing harm

In addition to the fines, Abubakari Zaidu (Macharjia) was directed to pay GHS 500 to cover the victim’s medical expenses.

The court also ordered the three students to sign a 12-month bond of good behavior, with a default penalty of six months imprisonment with hard labour.

The case arose from a violent altercation at Salaga SHS, which resulted in one individual sustaining multiple stab wounds. Authorities later confiscated a locally manufactured pistol and ammunition used in the attack.

The students were subsequently arrested, prosecuted, and convicted for their actions.
