Veteran Actor Mawuli Semevo Passes Away After Fire Incident

Renowned Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has died following a fire outbreak that left him in critical condition.

The veteran actor was asleep at home when the fire broke out, severely injuring him. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, where he was receiving treatment. He was 63 years old.

On February 8, 2025, Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization, revealed that Mr. Semevo had suffered burns covering 44% of his body, along with serious respiratory injuries that made breathing difficult. The burns extended from his head to his legs, causing him to lose all his hair.

Despite efforts from colleagues who rallied support for his treatment, he sadly did not survive.

Mr. Semevo was widely respected for his remarkable performances in both stage and film productions. His notable works include Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, YOLO TV series, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.
