President John Mahama has expanded his government with nine ministerial appointments and three regional ministerial designations, according to a press release dated January 16, 2025.
The appointments include key positions aimed at driving national development across various sectors:
- Ministry of Roads and Highways – Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP
- Ministry of Food and Agriculture – Eric Opoku, MP
- Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection – Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, MP
- Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts – Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP
- Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture – Emelia Arthur, MP
- Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment – George Opare-Addo
- Ministry of Education – Haruna Iddrisu, MP
- Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs – Ahmed Ibrahim, MP
- Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry – Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, MP
In addition to the ministerial appointments, three regional ministers were also named:
- Western North Region – Wilbert Petty Brentum
- Central Region – Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere
- Western Region – Joseph Nelson

Haruna Iddrisu, a seasoned politician and former Minority Leader, takes on the Education Ministry, signaling a focus on addressing challenges in the education sector. Kwame Governs Agbodza, known for his advocacy in Parliament, will oversee the Ministry of Roads and Highways, a critical sector for infrastructure development. George Opare-Addo, widely recognized for his youth empowerment initiatives, is tasked with spearheading programs at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment.
