Brothers Severely Beaten for Exhuming Body of 10-Year-Old in Ashalaja

Two brothers were brutally attacked by an irate mob in Ashalaja after being accused of exhuming the body of a 10-year-old boy from a local cemetery.

The incident, which took place on January 14, has left the community in shock.

According to eyewitness accounts, the brothers, identified as Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, dug up the remains of James Ajoyemeh, a 10-year-old child, from a cemetery in Adewukwa, a locality in Bawjiase.

The pair were intercepted by motorbike riders, commonly referred to as ‘okada’ riders, in Ashalaja around 1 a.m. after receiving a tip-off. The mob proceeded to attack the brothers, inflicting severe injuries before the police intervened to rescue them.

The Dankyira Police’s swift action prevented the situation from escalating further, potentially saving the brothers’ lives.

The Awutu Bawjiase Police Command has since initiated an investigation to uncover the reasons behind the exhumation and to ensure those responsible face justice.

Both brothers were rushed to the Bawjiase Polyclinic for medical care due to the severity of their injuries.

Community leaders have appealed for calm, urging residents to remain patient and allow the police to conduct their investigations thoroughly.
