The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammy Awuku, has officially stepped down from his position, effective January 13, 2025.
In a resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Awuku explained that his decision was necessitated by his recent election as the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North.
Awuku, who has served as NLA Director-General since August 2021, expressed his dedication to prioritizing his parliamentary responsibilities.
“In light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament,” he stated in the letter.
Awuku also urged the swift appointment of a successor to ensure a seamless transition and proper handover of duties at the NLA.
His resignation concludes a notable tenure at the NLA, during which he spearheaded initiatives to modernize the authority’s operations and enhance its contributions to national revenue.
The President is expected to announce a new Director-General in the coming days to maintain continuity at the NLA.
