Police have initiated a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who escaped with gold and other valuables after attacking miners at Manso Watreso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred when the suspects ambushed community mining workers returning home from work, seizing over 30 pounds of gold, keys to a pickup truck, and cash exceeding GH¢11,000.
According to Kofi Mensah, the Assembly Member for the Manso Watreso Electoral Area, an alarm raised by the victims led residents to apprehend two of the suspects. The community members, acting in anger, lynched the apprehended suspects on the spot.
However, the remaining two suspects managed to flee with the stolen items.
The incident has been reported to the police, who have deposited the bodies of the lynched robbers at the morgue. Authorities have since launched an investigation and are actively pursuing the two escapees.
The police are appealing to the public for information to aid in their efforts to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen items.
