Mahama Convenes Emergency Meeting to Address Looming Energy Crisis

President John Dramani Mahama has convened a high-level meeting with energy experts and policymakers to tackle Ghana’s impending energy challenges. The meeting includes representatives from the Ministry of Energy and key sector agencies tasked with addressing the crisis.

The urgency stems from revelations that the previous administration had not secured sufficient fuel for power generation. In an interview on Tuesday, John Abdulai Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu, disclosed that the country’s fuel reserves could only sustain power generation for five hours.

“This is a serious situation that signals a looming energy crisis,” Jinapor stated.

The government’s immediate focus is on formulating solutions to avert widespread disruptions to power supply. Officials are expected to explore emergency procurement options and long-term strategies to stabilize the energy sector.
