The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has denied claims made by Gomoa Central MP-elect Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, regarding alleged overtures by the NPP to align with him in Parliament.

In a statement issued on January 6, 2025, Kodua stated, “The NPP has not met with A Plus, nor has it authorized anyone to convey any message to him on its behalf.”

This follows a Facebook post by A Plus, where he claimed that the NPP, through Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, approached him with an offer to collaborate in Parliament. A Plus alleged that the NPP’s proposal included a promise not to contest the Gomoa Central seat in the 2028 parliamentary election.

A Plus won the Gomoa Central seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections, defeating both the NDC and NPP candidates. His victory has positioned him as a significant player in the new Parliament, where the NDC holds a majority with 183 seats, compared to the NPP’s 88 seats and four independents.

The NPP’s denial comes amid heightened political speculation, as A Plus also disclosed his leaning toward the NDC, with a scheduled meeting to discuss potential collaboration.
