10 Heads of State Confirmed for Mahama’s Inauguration  

Spokesperson for the John Dramani Mahama Transition Team, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that ten heads of state will attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.

The high-profile event will also welcome two vice presidents, a speaker of parliament, two former presidents, and representatives from international organizations, including the Commonwealth and the African Development Bank.

The inauguration will be integrated with a parliamentary session, requiring the relocation of Parliament’s sitting to Black Star Square for the ceremony. Access to the parliamentary session will be restricted to invited guests with valid invitation cards.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized the importance of ensuring a well-organized and secure event, urging all guests to be seated by 8:30 a.m. The proceedings will commence at 11:00 a.m., following the arrival of Members of Parliament and the President-elect.

To facilitate the event, several roads in Accra will be temporarily closed:

– 28th February Road (CEPS Headquarters to Castle Road Junction)

– Castle Road (AU Circle to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light)

– Starlet 91 Road

Traffic from La, Labone, and Osu heading to the Central Business District will be redirected through alternative routes, such as the Salem Avenue Traffic Light and Oxford Street.

Designated parking areas include:

– Independence Arch (rear)

Vehicles parked in unauthorized areas or attempting to breach roadblocks will not be permitted.
