The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to public officials against complying with last-minute directives from outgoing political actors regarding recruitments, promotions, payments, and transfers.

This caution comes after the Joint Transition Team’s second meeting on December 13, 2024, where an agreement was reached to seek prior approval for such actions. However, the Mahama Transition Team has accused the outgoing NPP administration of disregarding these protocols.

In a statement released on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the team declared that any unauthorized appointments, promotions, or financial transactions—some of which have allegedly been backdated—will be reversed once the new government assumes office.

The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team, also stressed that public officials who comply with these directives would be held accountable.

It reiterated the team’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent transition process, urging public officials to adhere strictly to established guidelines.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all public officials are strongly cautioned to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in these acts as they could attract severe consequences when the new government takes office,” the statement emphasized.

The warning serves as a reminder of the team’s intent to maintain accountability and proper governance throughout the transition period.
