Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to pause the ongoing transition process until the Electoral Commission (EC) announces all parliamentary election results.
The call follows disputes over several contested results, including Nsawam Adoagyiri.
Speaking at a press briefing on December 11, Annoh-Dompreh stressed the need for transparency and fairness, requesting the outgoing president to hold off the transition process.
“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo must halt the transition process. Equity demands clean hands, and all parliamentary results must be declared before moving forward,” he asserted.
He also urged President-elect John Dramani Mahama to ensure his supporters uphold the same principles of equity, emphasizing the importance of a transparent electoral process.
Annoh-Dompreh refuted claims made by the Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who accused him of involvement in a shooting incident at the Nsawam Adoagyiri Collation Center.
The Chairman alleged that Annoh-Dompreh had shot an observer, Richard Taboh, during chaos at the collation center. Denying the accusations, Annoh-Dompreh called for a thorough investigation by the Ghana Police to establish the facts.
The MP criticized the NDC for what he labeled as “irresponsible behavior” and urged the EC to use a secure and transparent platform to declare the remaining parliamentary results promptly.
“It’s crucial to ensure that all parliamentary seats are duly declared before the transition process continues,” he reiterated.
This appeal adds to the tension surrounding Ghana’s post-election transition as stakeholders await the resolution of disputed results.
