Military Deployed in Tepa After Vandalism by NDC Supporters

A heavy military presence has been established in Tepa, located in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency of the Ashanti Region, following violent incidents allegedly involving supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The individuals are reported to have gone on a rampage, setting fire to both private and public property. Among the targeted locations was the Tepa Senior High School, where materials from the presidential and parliamentary elections held on December 7, 2024, were stored.

Additionally, the supporters reportedly attacked a local radio station owned by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and vandalized a warehouse belonging to the party. One of the vehicles belonging to Nana Agyemang Prempeh, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections, was also set ablaze. Prempeh, who is also the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), was initially reported missing, and his bodyguard was said to be injured. However, police have confirmed that Prempeh is safe.

The results for the Ahafo Ano North presidential and parliamentary elections are currently disputed, with the Electoral Commission holding off on the declaration of the final results. The collation center was reportedly ransacked, and ballot materials were destroyed, further complicating the verification process.

The military has been deployed to restore order and ensure the safety of the residents in the wake of these disturbances.
