EC Official Collapses Amid Chaos at Dome Kwabenya Collation Centre

An official of the Electoral Commission (EC) collapsed at the Dome Kwabenya Collation Centre in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday afternoon, December 8, amid ongoing tension surrounding the collation of results for the 2024 general elections.

The identity of the female official remains undisclosed, and the cause of her collapse has not been confirmed. The situation escalated when efforts by the Police to transport her to a medical facility were delayed by irate youth blocking the road.

After several tense minutes, the police managed to navigate the obstruction and rushed the official to a nearby health facility for treatment.

The chaos at the collation centre has prompted discussions about relocating the process to the Police Headquarters or the Regional Police Command in Tudu for enhanced security and smooth operations.

In response to the unrest, there has been heavy military deployment to restore order, with police taking swift action to manage the situation.

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have gathered at the collation centre following reports that their candidate, Elikplim Akurugu, has taken an early lead in the parliamentary race.
