The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed unwavering confidence in the party’s victory ahead of the December 7 elections. Addressing the NDC’s final rally at Zurak Park in Madina on December 5, 2024, Asiedu Nketia asserted that Ghanaians are determined to elect John Mahama as the next president.
“The people of Ghana have decided to return you [John Mahama] to the Presidency whether you like it or not,” he declared, addressing enthusiastic party supporters.
He highlighted the historic nature of the election, pointing out that Ghana will have its first female Vice-President if the NDC wins. Asiedu Nketia also encouraged Ghanaians to vote in large numbers to secure not just the presidency but a commanding majority in Parliament.
“Ghanaians want an absolute majority of our candidates elected in Parliament…I am convinced that we are returning to government with a very strong majority in Parliament,” he said.
The National Chairman urged vigilance during the voting process, calling on party members to ensure that every vote is protected and accurately reflected in the final results.
Asiedu Nketia concluded by framing the election as a pivotal moment for Ghana’s democracy, urging citizens to support the NDC’s vision of resetting the nation’s path toward progress.
