Court Stops The Fourth Estate from Publishing National Service Scandal Report

The National Service Authority (NSA) has obtained a 10-day injunction from the High Court to halt the publication of a series of investigative stories by The Fourth Estate, originally scheduled to be released on December 3, 2024.

A court bailiff served the Media Foundation for West Africa, which oversees The Fourth Estate project, with the injunction just 12 hours before the first story’s expected release.

The court’s order restrains The Fourth Estate and its affiliates from publishing any investigative reports concerning the NSA and its staff until the Authority’s side of the story is incorporated.

“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Defendant/Respondents, its privies, servants, agents, assigns and interested parties are hereby restrained from putting out any purported investigative report concerning the Plaintiff/Applicant and its staff until their side of the subject matter of the investigations is heard and included in the said report,” the injunction document reads.

The investigative series was announced by The Fourth Estate on November 29, promising to uncover details about the National Service Authority. However, the NSA’s last-minute court action has temporarily blocked the exposé.
