Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has requested additional backroom staff in his technical report submitted to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council.
The report came after the GFA EXCO called Otto Addo for a review of the Black Stars’ performance in the recently concluded 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana failed to win any matches during the qualifiers and missed out on a spot in next year’s AFCON, marking the country’s absence from the tournament for the first time in 20 years. The Black Stars were also unable to secure a win in any of their home games.
In his report, Addo admitted that injuries had an impact on the team’s performance. He also noted that the team’s performances did not match the results expected at home.
Looking ahead to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers set to begin in March 2025, Addo emphasized the need for additional staff to strengthen the technical team. His backroom staff, including assistant coach John Paintsil, has faced intense criticism for the Black Stars’ underperformance.
