The Ghana Police Service has invited Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a radio and television presenter from Kumasi, for questioning regarding allegations of spreading false information related to the upcoming December 7 general elections.
The controversy centers on a viral video circulating on social media, reportedly showing Oheneba Nana Asiedu at the studios of Wontumi FM. In the video, he is alleged to have encouraged voters to cast their ballots for presidential candidates on separate days during the elections—a statement deemed factually incorrect and misleading.
In a statement, the police described the claims as “false and likely to disturb public peace,” particularly in the politically charged environment ahead of the elections.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu has been summoned to the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi to assist with investigations. Authorities have emphasized the importance of his cooperation in clarifying the matter.
The Ghana Police Service used the incident to caution media practitioners and the public against disseminating unverified or inaccurate information, urging responsibility in maintaining public order before, during, and after the elections.
