- Business and Community Benefits:
- Lower transportation costs for bulk goods, agricultural products, and containers.
- Enhanced trade efficiency and competitiveness for businesses.
- Improved accessibility for underserved communities through a cost-effective and reliable transport option.
- Boost to Port Operations: The line will enhance Tema Port’s competitiveness by reducing vessel waiting times and improving cargo handling.
President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s railway network as part of the revised 2020 Railway Master Plan. He emphasized the need for continued investment and partnerships to unlock the full potential of the nation’s economy.
The President extended appreciation to the Indian government, local chiefs, and communities impacted by the project for their patience and cooperation. He urged Ghanaians to take collective responsibility for maintaining the railway, describing it as a national asset critical for community empowerment, business growth, and industrial strengthening.
