Former Techiman City FC President Criticizes GFA Over Substandard Donated Buses

Charles Ntim, widely known as Mickey Charles, the former President of Techiman City Football Club, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over the poor condition of buses recently donated to Access Bank Division One clubs.

The GFA distributed the buses to nine Division One clubs during a ceremony at the Accra Sports Stadium, fulfilling a pledge made by GFA President Kurt Okraku during the 29th Ordinary Congress in Kumasi in 2023. In his remarks, Okraku emphasized that the initiative was part of a broader strategy to support clubs and promote the sustainable development of football in Ghana.

Beneficiary clubs include New Edubiase FC, Okwawu United, Basake Holy Stars, and Vision FC, some of which have since advanced to the Ghana Premier League.

However, a viral video on social media shows the poor state of one of the donated buses, with visible wear and tear on the driver’s seat and pedals. The footage was shared by American-based Ghanaian sports journalist Seidu Adamu, further fueling criticism.

Mickey Charles took to social media to call out the GFA, describing the condition of the buses as unacceptable and a disservice to the clubs. His comments have sparked conversations about the quality of support provided to Division One teams and the GFA’s commitment to its promises.

This criticism adds to the ongoing scrutiny of the GFA’s management and efforts to support lower-tier football in Ghana.
