One more person has been killed in Bawku bringing the total death toll to 26 since the conflict reignited in late October 2024. This recent casualty follows a violent clash on Tuesday, November 12, in the Daduri suburb, which left two people dead and several others injured.

Despite a curfew from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. aimed at restoring order, gunmen have defied restrictions, launching attacks that continue to unsettle the region. The clashes included a gun battle that resulted in two houses being set ablaze, worsening the area’s security crisis.

The unrest has led to school closures and has heavily impacted businesses, as residents fear the possibility of further violence. Many families are fleeing the area; six buses carrying residents, escorted by military personnel, were recently seen heading to Bolgatanga for safety.

The conflict reportedly intensified after rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre returned from exile, coupled with recent ambushes targeting travelers, which have further fueled tensions in Bawku. Security forces remain on high alert as they work to curb the violence and restore peace.
