Starting Tuesday, November 12, workers of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) have declared an indefinite strike, a move expected to disrupt ongoing road infrastructure projects and essential roadworks across the country. The strike stems from the government’s decision to proceed with the National Roads Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1118), a law that has sparked controversy among GHA workers.

Key demands include the removal of Ing. I.K. Mensah, Chairman of the GHA Board, and Ing. Collins B. Donkor, CEO of the National Roads Authority (NRA). Workers accuse these officials of decisions that jeopardize the roads sector’s integrity.

This strike follows a petition to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, urging further consultations on the Act’s implementation. The outcome of this protest remains critical for future projects and administration within Ghana’s road infrastructure sector.
