NDC Urges Ghanaians to “Bring Back Mahama” Just like how U.S.A Brought Donald Trump Back

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging Ghanaians to vote former President John Mahama back into office, drawing a parallel between the U.S. election results and Ghana’s upcoming December polls. The call comes after the U.S. election saw Donald Trump re-elected, with the NDC suggesting that Ghana, like the U.S., is dealing with economic challenges that warrant a change in leadership.

Speaking on Joy News’ AM Show, Dr. Rashid Tanko, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections for IT, described the U.S. election results as “refreshing” for the party. He argued that economic struggles under the Biden-Harris administration led Americans to choose Trump for his approach to addressing economic concerns, a sentiment that, he believes, resonates in Ghana.

Dr. Tanko emphasized that Ghana’s economic issues under President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia mirror the challenges in the U.S., and he encouraged Ghanaians to replace the current administration with Mahama and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to revive the economy.

“Americans have gone back to Trump,” Dr. Tanko said, “so what will stop you from bringing back John Mahama to continue addressing the economic downturn?” He concluded by suggesting that a Mahama-led government would also elevate Ghana’s standing in international diplomacy.
