A police bus driver has been detained following a tragic incident in Abeka on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in which a motorcyclist lost his life. The accident reportedly occurred when the driver attempted to bypass traffic by using the opposite lane, resulting in a fatal collision.
Felix Aryeetey, a fuel station attendant at Abeka Junction, recounted the incident, noting that heavy traffic in the area was due to a passing-out ceremony at the police depot.
“The police took the other lane, driving at high speed. Then I heard a crash, and the motorbike rider was knocked down, dying on the spot,” he said. The accident intensified congestion on routes from Tesano, Achimota, and Nsawam.
