AG Drops Charges Against Seven Democracy Hub Protestors

The Attorney General’s Office has discontinued charges against seven individuals arrested during the Democracy Hub protest at the 37 roundabout last month. State Attorney Amanda Awadi informed an Accra Circuit Court that the government had decided to halt prosecution, resulting in the discharge of Kingsley Asiedu, Seth Cofie, Gloria Louis, Nii Quaye Hammond, Manuel Biney, Dorsese Joseph, and Ernest Acheampong.

Awadi also stated that a new charge sheet will be filed on the next adjourned date. However, the trial of two other protestors, Dela Quarshie and Agbevi Matthias, will continue. The state has already filed its second set of disclosures and plans to submit witness statements soon.
