The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both school and private candidates. According to a statement from WAEC on October 19, the results for school candidates will be dispatched to their respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.
WAEC reported the detection of various malpractices during the examination process. After investigations, WAEC’s Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee, in its meeting on October 16, 2024, decided to cancel the subject results of 377 school candidates and three private candidates for bringing unauthorized materials into the exam hall or for collusion.
Additionally, the entire results of 41 school candidates and one private candidate were cancelled. Further investigations are being conducted into irregularities involving 33 school candidates and three private candidates, whose results have been withheld. Subject results from 149 schools are also under review and may either be cancelled or released based on the outcomes of ongoing investigations.
A total of 569,236 candidates—282,703 males and 286,533 females—from 19,505 schools registered for the school exam. This included 59 candidates with visual impairments, 263 with hearing impairments, and 161 with other special needs. The exam was conducted across 2,123 centres nationwide, with 3,845 candidates absent. The BECE for private candidates saw 1,390 entrants, with 57 reported as absent.

3. Confirm the price and description, and select option 1.
4. Authorize payment via Mobile Money.
5. Receive the checker card via SMS with instructions to check the results.
Via MTN MoMo (*170#):
1. Dial *170#.
2. Choose 2 [MoMo Pay & Pay Bill].
3. Select 2 [Pay Bill].
4. Choose 5 [General Payment].
5. Enter “FAST” as the payment code.
6. Enter the amount (GHS 25) and reference “BECE.”
7. Approve the transaction and receive the checker card via SMS.
Alternatively, candidates can visit ResultsChecker.com.gh to purchase a results checker using Mobile Money.
