Man Arrested for Stabbing Newlywed Wife to Death, Burning Corpse

Lagos state police have arrested 30-year-old Motunrayo Olaniyi for allegedly killing his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, following a heated altercation at their home. According to Lagos State Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Olaniyi reportedly stabbed his 25-year-old wife multiple times before locking her in the room and setting it on fire.

The police responded to a distress call and managed to extinguish the fire. Upon entering the room, they discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body, bearing multiple stab wounds. The suspect, who inflicted injuries on himself after committing the act, was taken to a hospital for treatment and later discharged into police custody.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that the fatal stabbing occurred during a heated argument between the couple. Olajumoke’s body has been sent to Ikorodu General Hospital for an autopsy, while further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details surrounding the case.
