In a horrific incident at Kasoa Adom Estate in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, two individuals were set ablaze in a room early Thursday morning. The victims, identified as 22-year-old Kwabena Osei and 19-year-old Princess Anarley Ahiatey, suffered burns so severe that they were beyond recognition.
The tragedy unfolded around 2:00 AM, and although no arrests have been made yet, surveillance footage from a nearby container shop captured three young men committing the act. The motive behind this brutal attack remains unclear.
Preliminary reports suggest that Kwabena was involved in scamming and often used Princess to communicate with his clients during the night. On the day of the incident, Kwabena had invited Princess to his home to continue their usual activities.
Princess’s mother, Mama Felicia, expressed her heartbreak, stating that she had advised her daughter against visiting Kwabena. She expressed disbelief at how Princess left the house despite her warnings, lamenting, “I tried to stop my daughter from going to see Kwabena Osei, but she never listened.”
Kwabena’s mother, Sister Esi, revealed that she was unaware of her son’s friendship with Princess until after their tragic deaths.
In response to the incident, Kwame Amoah, the Awutu Senya East Municipal NADMO Director, has urged the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspects identified in the CCTV footage.
