George Saijah, the Chairman of the Referee Association, has revealed that referees officiating in the Ghana Premier League are paid GHC 1,000 per match.

Speaking at a Parliamentary Select Sports Committee hearing on September 30, 2024, Saijah clarified that this payment covers officiating, transportation, accommodation, and food expenses.

He further noted that referees in the Division One League and Women’s League receive GHC 750 per match. Additionally, Saijah emphasized that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is responsible for appointing referees for Premier League matches, not the Referee Association.
