Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has officially destooled Opanin Kwaku Kyere, the Dikro of Ejisu-Kyerekrom, for violating the Great Oath of the Ashanti Kingdom.
The destoolment, which took place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, marks a rare and significant action in Ashanti tradition, highlighting the gravity of the offense.
The Great Oath, a sacred tenet within the kingdom, symbolizes trust, integrity, and loyalty to the Ashanti people. Any violation is regarded as a severe breach of these core values.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is committed to preserving the customs and principles of the Ashanti Kingdom, presided over the process, stressing that breaches of such magnitude would not be tolerated.
