Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) clashed on Monday during the commissioning of machinery for the District Road Infrastructure Project (DRIP) in Gomoa West, Central Region.
According to reports, the altercation began when NDC supporters questioned the display of images of Bismark Basie Nkum, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, on the equipment. This disagreement quickly escalated, nearly resulting in physical violence between the two groups.
Bismark Basie Nkum, who also serves as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa West, accused the area’s Member of Parliament, Richard Gyan Mensah, of brandishing a pistol and issuing threats against NPP leaders. A video circulating on social media shows the DCE accusing the MP of pulling a gun during the heated encounter.
