GUTA Urges President Akufo-Addo to End Galamsey Before Leaving Office

The Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to eliminate illegal mining, also known as galamsey, before the conclusion of his tenure.

The union highlighted that successfully addressing this issue would leave a lasting legacy for the president.

This appeal comes amid ongoing demands for the president to tackle the problem, which is causing significant damage to the country’s natural resources.

“We earnestly hope that the president will listen to the numerous calls and take decisive action to end this menace before his term in office ends, as it would be a great legacy for him,” Dr. Joseph Obeng, President of GUTA, said in a statement on Thursday.
