Accra: Fire Destroys Three Shops at Kamara, Investigations Underway

In the early hours of Wednesday, September 11, a fire broke out, destroying three auto parts shops and a cold store along the Kamara-Mamprobi stretch in Accra.

Eyewitnesses report that the blaze likely originated from a faulty electrical system in one of the shops, which then spread to neighboring establishments.

Divisional Officer 3, William Sackey, who is in charge of operations at the Dansoman Fire Station, provided details of the incident in an interview with Channel One news.

He explained that when the fire team arrived at the scene, they observed electrical shocks emanating from a main service wire near the shops, prompting them to call for additional support to contain the situation.

Officer Sackey mentioned that a police backup was also requested after the crowd gathered at the scene began to hinder the firefighters’ efforts. “Around 5:45 am, we received a distress call about a fire at Kamara near the Apostolic Church.

Upon arrival, we saw three containers engulfed in flames, with electrical shocks from the main service wire complicating our efforts. We quickly got to work and called for reinforcement from our Circle Fire Station to provide additional pumps,” he said.

The fire was brought under control by approximately 8:45 am, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
