Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has completed a loan move to Turkish football giants Galatasaray after a potential transfer to Chelsea fell through last week. The 25-year-old forward had been pursued by Chelsea throughout the final day of the transfer window, but negotiations collapsed due to disagreements over his wage demands.
Following the breakdown of the Chelsea move, Napoli manager Antonio Conte informed Osimhen that he was not in the club’s plans for the upcoming season. In response, Napoli swiftly signed Romelu Lukaku for £30 million, paving the way for Osimhen to explore other opportunities.
Galatasaray acted quickly to secure Osimhen’s services on a loan deal. The striker has already arrived in Istanbul to finalize the transfer. The Turkish club, drawn against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League group stage, aims to strengthen their attack with Osimhen’s proven goal-scoring abilities.
Despite the transfer windows in other European leagues closing, the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 13, giving Galatasaray time to complete the deal. Reports suggest that Osimhen has included a break clause in his loan agreement, allowing him to consider offers from top clubs during the January transfer window.
Interestingly, Osimhen had previously reached an agreement with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli but chose not to pursue the move, opting instead for the opportunity at Galatasaray.
