Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana is reportedly on the verge of joining Dutch football giant Ajax Amsterdam on loan, according to renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano. The Italian transfer expert revealed the news on his X (formerly Twitter) page, adding that a verbal agreement has been reached between Ajax and Sulemana’s current club, Southampton.
The 22-year-old winger, who has been sidelined due to injury, is yet to make his debut appearance in the 2024-2025 English Premier League season. Romano reports that personal terms are still being discussed, and the finalization of the deal depends on the potential transfer of Ajax forward Steven Bergwijn to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
Sulemana joined Southampton from French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes during the January transfer window of the 2022-2023 season, where he managed to score two goals and provide one assist in 18 Premier League appearances. He spent the 2023-2024 season in the EFL Championship with Southampton.
If the move to Ajax materializes, Sulemana will follow in the footsteps of fellow Right To Dream Academy graduate Mohammed Kudus, who also played for Ajax before his recent transfer to West Ham United.
