I Stop Breathing Within Thirty Minutes of Falling Asleep – Drogba

Ghanaian actor John Peasah, better known as Drogba from the popular TV series “YOLO,” has opened up about his battle with Sleep Apnea, a condition that causes him to stop breathing for up to 30 minutes while asleep. This recent diagnosis adds to his ongoing struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder he was diagnosed with in March.

Drogba shared his ordeal during an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM, where he expressed frustration with the lack of progress in his treatment despite numerous hospital visits. The actor disclosed that his neurologist at the Bank Hospital identified Stiff Person Syndrome after several months of inconclusive tests, a diagnosis later confirmed by specialists at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

In addition to Stiff Person Syndrome, Drogba was recently diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, a condition that disrupts his breathing during sleep. “According to the doctors, I stop breathing within thirty minutes of falling asleep, with only my heart continuing to beat before I eventually resume breathing,” he explained. To manage the condition, he has been advised to use a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine.

Given the severity of his conditions and the lack of improvement, Drogba is now considering seeking further medical treatment abroad.
