NPP 2024 Manifesto: Bawumia Promises Incentives for Teachers and Healthcare Workers to Purchase Vehicles

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced a plan to provide incentives for teachers and healthcare workers to purchase vehicles if the party is re-elected in the 2024 general elections. This pledge was made during the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

Dr. Bawumia detailed several initiatives aimed at improving education and healthcare. He emphasized that the NPP would complete the ongoing Agenda 111 project, which seeks to ensure every district in Ghana has a hospital. The party also intends to recruit more healthcare professionals and enhance their working conditions.

As part of the healthcare initiatives, Bawumia mentioned that the NPP would continue digitizing public health facilities through the E-Health project and expand telemedicine services. Additionally, two more drone delivery sites for medicine distribution will be established.

Regarding education, Dr. Bawumia promised to increase accommodation for university students, offer free tertiary education for persons with disabilities (PWDs), and expand scholarship eligibility. He also highlighted the implementation of the Centralised Applications Processing Service (CAPS) to streamline student admissions.

Dr. Bawumia assured teachers and healthcare workers that the NPP would offer incentives for them to purchase one vehicle each, with an engine capacity of up to 1,800 cubic centimeters (cc). He reiterated the party’s commitment to preserving and enhancing the Free Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, which have significantly increased student enrollment. The manifesto also includes plans to recruit more teachers with improved conditions of service.
