$2 Billion Secured to Develop Cape Coast Airport – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced a significant milestone in his campaign, revealing that a $2 billion fund has been secured to develop the much-anticipated Cape Coast Airport. The announcement was made during the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

The funding, sourced from Korean investors, marks a crucial step in Bawumia’s vision to expand Ghana’s aviation sector. He emphasized that this development would not only boost the region’s economy but also enhance the country’s overall infrastructure.

In addition to the Cape Coast project, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to establish a private-sector-led Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the Tamale Airport. This initiative aims to transform the Tamale Airport into a key hub for aviation cargo, horticultural cargo, and logistics.

These announcements form part of a broader strategy to elevate Ghana’s aviation sector, positioning the nation as a pivotal player in regional and international air transport.
