The Black Stars of Ghana are set to commence their campaign to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a home match against Angola’s Sable Antelopes at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The first Group F match is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2024, followed by an away game against Niger on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Ghana aims to make its 25th appearance at the continental showpiece but will face stiff competition from Niger and Sudan in Group F. However, the Black Stars, led by Coach Otto Addo, are buoyed by their recent form, having secured impressive wins over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The top two teams from Group F will qualify for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Morocco in December next year. The four-time African champions are keen to secure their place in the tournament and hope to end their 43-year AFCON trophy drought.
