President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that his administration has successfully constructed 12,830 kilometres of roads nationwide, claiming this as an unprecedented achievement in Ghana’s history.
Speaking at the inauguration of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) at the Black Star Square in Accra on Wednesday, the President highlighted the significance of this milestone. DRIP, funded by the District Assembly Common Fund and donor partners, is designed to tackle infrastructure challenges within the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The program aims to facilitate the completion of numerous road projects within these regions, significantly benefiting farmers in rural communities who lack agricultural equipment, thereby enhancing their farming activities.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized the substantial upgrades to Ghana’s road infrastructure under his administration.
“We have witnessed exceptional improvements in our road network nationwide. We have successfully completed a total of 12,830 kilometres of roads across the country and added six more interchanges,” he stated.
He further detailed the specific accomplishments, noting that the completed projects include 1,936.48 kilometres of asphalt overlays, 659.81 kilometres of new constructions, and extensive gravelling and regraveling efforts.
