Former Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has dismissed the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ambitious goal of securing over 80 percent of votes in the upcoming December election in the Ashanti Region, labelling it as unattainable.
Muntaka emphasised that the NPP’s poor performance in the region will not go unnoticed, predicting repercussions at the polls.
Addressing reporters in Kumasi, Muntaka expressed scepticism about the NPP’s electoral prospects, questioning their ability to achieve such a high percentage amid visible challenges.
“With all the struggles that are so glaring, are you going to deny us from voting? Or how are you going to get the 85%? I heard somebody screaming about 85% and I said this guy is coming from some kind of place,” Muntaka stated.
He added, “I’m very optimistic that this time around the NDC should be able to get at least about 32% of votes in the Ashanti Region.”
