Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Issues Apology for  his Comments on Kwame Nkrumah

In a statement released today, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, has publicly apologized for comments made regarding former Ghanaian presidents, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The remarks, made during a speech on July 9th in Kumasi, sparked varied reactions from the public.

Dr. Prempeh clarified that his comments were intended to reflect his personal views on the performance of President Akufo-Addo and his impact relative to previous leaders. He emphasized that there was no intention to disrespect former President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, or any other former heads of state, including his mentor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor.

“I wish to emphasize that I never meant to disrespect our former President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, or any of our former heads of state,” Dr. Prempeh stated. “I note the concerns raised after my statement. I apologize sincerely and regret any discomfort caused.”
