Hassan Ayariga, the leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), has voiced his concerns regarding the presidential aspirations of Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, who is aiming to become Ghana’s next president in the 2024 elections.
Ayariga questioned Cheddar’s qualifications for the presidency, pointing to his lack of political background.
He advised Cheddar to shelve his presidential ambitions and instead focus on his business activities, questioning the rationale behind Cheddar’s entry into politics.
Ayariga suggested that Cheddar should stick to his business expertise and leave politics to those with the necessary experience and skills to govern effectively.
“I don’t understand what motivated Cheddar to enter politics; I don’t know his vision or reason for doing so. Cheddar is a friend and a businessman. He should run the business… the presidency is not for him,” Ayariga said on Joy Prime.
Hassan Ayariga also expressed skepticism about Nana Kwame Bediako’s promise to extend the sea to the Ashanti Region, arguing that Ghana needs practical policies to drive economic growth and development rather than unrealistic and grandiose projects that may not produce real benefits.
Ayariga stressed the importance of realistic and sustainable policies to address the country’s economic issues, rather than relying on ambitious but possibly unattainable promises.
“Who can take the sea to Kumasi? When you claim you’re taking the sea to Kumasi and analyze that policy, what is the objective? We struggle to build simple roads in this country.
“You’re not focusing on building roads in Accra or boosting productivity in Ghana to achieve self-sufficiency and food security; you’re thinking about the impossible. How many containers go to Kumasi?” he questioned.
